The dreaded meeting! No time for meetings….they are boring…I don’t need to be here. If these are the things that spring to mind when attending meetings – your meetings are out of touch with the modern meeting. The modern meeting is about action, not reporting; it’s about ideas; not following directions; and its about making things happen.

Here are 3 tips to bring your meeting into the 21st century:

  1. Make sure everyone knows what you are trying to achieve during the meeting. What are we going to change, action, or understand after we split.
  2. Keep the amount of items short, but conversation deep. Better to handle fewer items with quality input/output than just go through a list that you could have tackled via phone or email.
  3. Entertain. Bring something from the outside to your meeting. A video, a picture, an article. This should give context and bring an alternative perspective. It could just be a comment from someone unrelated to your business. People remember the unexpected.

The list goes on…but holding effective meetings is simple: book a great external environment, create a mission for the meet up, and action orientate the result.
